POSITION TITLE: Carpenter.
SHIFT TIMES: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm.
PAY RATE RANGE: $33.00/hour to $37.00/hour.

Summary:
The Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of school district facilities, ensuring that all buildings and structures are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. The work involves the installation, alteration and repair of various types of wooden articles, equipment and structures which include all aspects of rough and finish carpentry. This position requires a thorough knowledge of carpentry techniques and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Should have experience with all types of woodworking equipment.
Job Duties/Responsibilities (not all encompassing):
- Responsibilities include working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget.
- Ensure all carpentry work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and district policies.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Erect, renovate or remove interior and exterior trim work.
- Fit and install window frames, door frames, doors, wood and metal stud and drywall partitions.
- Construct and repair shelves, cabinets, closets, counters, stools, benches, stands and bookcases.
- Repair pieces of furniture such as desks, chairs, and tables.
- Install hardware such as hinges, catches, locks, drawer pulls, kick plates, door checks, panic bars, soap, and paper dispensers.
- Install window coverings including drapes, shades, blinds, curtain rods, and guards.
- Install glass in windows, doors, cabinets, walls, and partitions.
- Repair or replace ceiling tile, floor tile, ceramic tile, and sheet vinyl.
- Works with computerized work order management system; prioritizing, tracking and in-putting information. Creating reports as directed.
- Knowledge of and/or ability to learn the keying system.
- Prepares and submits requests for supplies and equipment.
- Adjust, repair, and replace door locks, padlocks, combination locks and various other fastening devices such as panic hardware, door checks, latches, catches, fasteners, door closers and locking devices.
- Order supplies, equipment, and tools for the purpose of assuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Perform preventive maintenance on locks and hardware including cleaning, lubricating, and tightening parts.
- Carpenter is required to work nights, weekends, and odd hours when repair or emergency situations occur. This position will also perform snowplowing.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Qualifications:
- Graduated from a trade school, high school or equivalent and completed an approved apprenticeship as a carpenter.
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of service work as a carpenter.
- Valid unrestricted Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Operators license is required and shall maintain insurability.
