Job Summary:
The Food Services Business Specialist is the liaison between the District, parents, and transportation companies and the District’s Food Service point person for administration and all families, as well as DPI.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in related field required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • 2 years of working in a student/education based field preferred
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Work with administrators, parents, and outside agencies  to review problems, find solutions, review requirements, and implement processes following District and DPI transportation guidelines.
  • First point of contact for questions related to bus routes, stop locations, and schedule changes.  This includes being responsive to early morning changes due to problems, severe weather, and/or school closures.
  • Monitor a building’s annual transportation needs as enrollment changes throughout the school year and work with principals and families to address/communicate any changes.
  • Act as the District’s Food Service Specialist as it relates to DPI reporting and  monitoring quality of the food product at the buildings.
  • Submits monthly food service claims for all food service programs
  • Manages the yearly joint agreement with private schools and processes required invoices.
  • Submits the yearly CEP intent and application.
  • Manages the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Grants (applicant and claims)
  • Completes the annual food service financial report for business office review.
  • Submits contract(s) to DPI for all food service programs including School Year Programs and Summer Feeding.
  • Working closely with the district administration team and the vendor(s) to address any concerns.
  • Make judgements or decisions that are based on established District and DPI policies, procedures, and protocols. 
  • The above duties are not all encompassing and other duties may be assigned as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to proficiently utilize various technology platforms such as Skyward, Microsoft Excel, Google, and other District platforms. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, collaboratively, and positively with employees, contractors, vendors, students, parents, administrators, board members and public.
  • Ability to plan, gather, and organize materials to be used by administration, staff and students, etc. 
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and carry out work and manage others' work with minimal support. 
  • Ability to  prioritize, handle multiple assignments and manage time so that tasks are accomplished within deadlines. 
  • Ability to use good independent judgment and solve problems sometimes in emergencies or within tight deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems in a manner consistent with school policies/procedures. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, when necessary. 
  • Ability to maintain an affirmative attitude and positive demeanor at all times, particularly when responding to public/parent complaints, communicating with vendors, addressing school concerns, or requests for information. 
  • Possess interpersonal and intrapersonal talents and skills that foster a positive educational and team environment, and which effectively ensure positive outcomes.  
  • Demonstrated ability to respond publicly to diverse audiences, to communicate effectively and develop relationships with all levels of staff and outside entities.

Evaluation:
  • Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with Guidelines pertaining to the evaluation of At Will personnel.
